Don’t call him ‘Billy’. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman has decided that he now will only go by ‘William’, as he pointed out at a recent show in Lima.
While playing a gig in Lima, Peru this past week, the frontman was treated to a birthday cake and a round of the ‘Happy Birthday’ song to commemorate his big day. He then took the opportunity to tell the crowd: “My name is not Billy. My name is William.” To which the crowd began shouting “William!”. Corgan then said: “My mother in Heaven thanks you.”
