A coroner has today ruled that foul play is not at all suspected in the death of Wayne Static.
The former Static-X frontman passed away aged 48 earlier this month but details surrounding his death were not disclosed.
Before today, it had been speculated that Static was killed by a drug overdose. Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach was one of many to voice this supposition and said on Instagram: “This is so sad. Too many musicians are dying from overdoses… The number of friends that I have lost to addiction is crazy. If you are struggling with addiction get some help before it’s too late." Shaddox has since apologised for his comments.
Static’s former wife, Tera Wray Static has maintained that her husband did not die of a drug overdose.
A coroner confirmed today to Blabbermouth that no foul play is suspected in the death, saying: "We can confirm the death of Wayne Dick Static, a 48-year-old Landers resident on 11/1/14 at his home," the spokesperson said. "While the manner of death is listed as pending, no foul play is suspected. No further details are available at this time."
Several artists payed tribute to the late singer such as Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.
