Grohl made the revelations in the latest instalment of HBO documentary, Sonic Highways. Admitting he was nervous to show Cobain examples of his early Foo Fighters efforts, he let him listen to 'Alone + Easy Target', which later appeared on Foo Fighters’ debut album in 1995.
Listen to 'Alone + Easy Target' below.
"Kurt heard that, and kissed me on the face, as he was in a bath," Grohl said. "He was so excited. He was like, 'I heard you recorded some stuff with Barrett (Jones).' I was like, 'Yeah.' He was like, 'Let me hear it.' I was too afraid to be in the same room as he listened to it."
It seems silly to say given the magnitude of their success but it's crazy to think that the Foo Fighters are still performing and recording 22 years later on the wave of those early recordings.
