Former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has returned with his first new material in eight years, the slick and sultry 'Aerial Love'. Check it out below.
Silverchair rose to fame in 1994 when they won a competition by Australian radio station Triple J and became signed, aged just 14. They were soon a global grunge phenomenon, attracting a huge fanbase with Frogstomp and Freak Show, before acclaim came with more ambitious and orchestral experimentation on latter albums Neon Ballroom, Diorama and Young Modern.
The band announced their 'indefinite hiatus' in 2011. Johns has since been working on music with Empire Of The Sun's Luke Steele and as a collaborator and songwriter.
Now he's back with 'Aerial Love', produced by New Zealand producer Joel Little - famed for his work with the likes of Lorde and Broods.
Fans hoping for a return to his hard-rocking days will be disappointed, as what he's delivered instead is a suble, sultry and accomplished take on elecro-tinged R&B, akin to likes of Chet Faker, BANKS, SOHN and FKA Twigs. It's beautiful.
