Prince and Idlewild were among the winners at the Scottish Music Awards last night, with Prides and Fatherson also taking home accolades.

Now in it's 16th year, the annual awards ceremony took place at Glasgow's Old Fruit Market to raise money for the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy charity.

Prince won the public-voted SSE Hydro Act of the Year Award and Idlewild  won the King Tuts Songwriting Award and performed an exclusive set showcasing their new line-up.

Other performances on the night came from The Lafontaines, Neon Jungle and The X Factor finalist Nicholas McDonald.

The Sir Reo Stakis Living Legend Award was presented to Dr Steve Forman, a world-respected session musician and tutor who has played with David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd. New band Fatherson went home with the XFM & Hard Rock Café Award and Prides were honoured with the Jack Daniels Best Breakthrough Artist Award.

The co-chairman of Nordoff Robbins Scotland, Donald MacLeod said: "We continue to be both amazed and overwhelmed by the generosity of the Scottish music scene and public - tonight has been no exception."

He added: "The talent on display tonight were all thoroughly deserving and it's fantastic to be able to celebrate their success with their industry peers."
