Tracey Emin's statue for the 2015 Brit Awards has been revealed, complete with an inscription.
Displaying a decidedly Mary J Blige approach to referring to herself in the third person, the Turner prize winning artist said: “You want to do it really well. You don’t just want to decorate it, you want to make something that is really Tracey-ish, that is special for the people receiving it.”
The inscription on the statue reads: "Congratulations on your talent on your life. On everything you give to others. Thank You."
Emin follows in the footsteps of Damien Hirst, Peter Blake, Philip Treacy and Vivienne Westwood. Emin has said previously of the commission: "It's so nice as a visual artist to have an involvement with the creative side of the music industry and it's such a sweet celebration of the amazing talent we have in Britain today.”
Tomorrow (Thursday 4 December), the first Brits winner will be announced in the form of the Critic's Choice Award 2015. This year the three nominees are Gigwise favourites Years and Years, new age lyricist George the Poet and singer songwriter James Bay. Last year's winner was Sam Smith.
