Martin Scorsese and HBO have announced details of their upcoming Seventies rock'n' roll drama, created by the writer of The Wolf Of Wall Street.
As The Playlist reports, Boardwalk Empire writer Terence Winter (who also adapted 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' for the screen) will be writing the show that is set in the record industry in Seventies New York. It will be executive produced by Mick Jagger.
The currently untitled show stars Bobby Cannavale (the insecure erotic aspyphixation enthusiast Gyp Rosetti from Boardwalk Empire), Olivia Wilde, Juno Temple, Andrew “Dice” Clay and Ray 'Everyone loves Raymond' Romano among others.
The hour long pilot will be shot shortly in New York. Cannavale will play Richie Finestra of American Century Records. Romano will play a mob-connected head of promotions and Juno Temple will play an ambitious A&R assistant. Clay is perfectly cast as a coke snorting radio bigwig and James Jagger (yes, Mick's son) will play Kip Stevens, the lead singer of punk band Nasty Bits
When Temple chatted to Gigwise recently she discussed talking about the rolling Stones with Martin Scorses. "He is a music fanatic: getting to sit in a room with him and just chat about music and movies is one of the coolest 2 1/2 hours I’ve ever had in my entire life. He told me that he has some original EPs from the Rolling Stones from back in the late Sixties that are in such mint condition that the glitter is still all there!"
The series is expected to be shown in 2015 in the US.
