Courtney Love has been refused editorial input on 'Montage of Heck', despite approaching director Brett Morgen.
The first fully authorised documentary based on iconic grunge legend Kurt Cobian is set to premiere at Sundance next month before hitting HBO later in 2015.
Though there is no mention of Love on the press release, but Cobain's family have participated with Morgen - especially daughter Frances Bean who has an active role as executive producer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morgen said they agreed that "because Courtney was a subject in the film, it would be best if she wasn’t given editorial control.”
Morgen is unsure of whether Love intends to see the finished product which he's been working on for eight years. Earlier in April however, she discussed plans with NME for a musical based on the life of her late husband.
The 'Montage of Heck' documentary will feature hundreds of unheard tracks, never-before-seen home movies, photographs and personal journal extracts.
