T-Boz and Chilli have announced that their forthcoming kickstarter-funded album will be their last.
The band wrote on their Kickstarter page, 'It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with YOU.'
This will also be the the first made without the late Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes. The band are putting together a creative team to work with them on the album, including much of the original line up.
The band have turned to Kickstarter so that they can take control of their own music, free from the constraints of a major label. It will also mean heavy fan involvement in the process. Their third album, FanMail, included a pull-out poster of thousands of fans' names - but this last album will take that even further.
If you pledge £5 or more, you are eligible to vote for one of the tracks which will be remixed on the album. Pledging between £10 and £7,500 will get you anything from signed vinyl to an exercise class with Chilli, a slumber party with T-Boz or a personalised voicemail message recorded by the pair.
They hope to reach their goal of $150,000 by 19 February.
