Chvrches are currently working on the follow up to debut album The Bones of What You Believe, and they have told NME that they want to channel Michael Jackson and Prince in the recording process.
Synth player and singer Martin Doherty said "I think we'll use fewer instruments but ultimately try and do more with them. When you listen to a Michael Jackson song or a Prince song, you realise there's absolutely nothing in it but an amazing bassline, drums and singing. We want to channel some of that."
The band posted on twitter last week that they have started work in the studio on their as-yet-untitled forthcoming album. They won't be going to LA to a fancy recording studio, but instead told NME, "we like taking the same depressing train to the same depressing part of town and locking ourselves away."

Gigwise spoke to Chvrches last year at Reading festival about their plans for the album. Doherty told us, "everyone knows you don't go mad weird until your third record. First album, you establish yourself, second album is similar but better and third album you can go as weird as you like."
