It would appear that the Likely Lads, Carl Barat and Pete Doherty, are going to live out the dreams of all friends and buy their own bar in Nottingham. Are The Libertines relocating to the Midlands?
The song writing duo plan to call their new bar ‘The Albion Rooms’. They also plan to renovate the upstairs flat of the Nottingham bar into a recording studio.
A source told The Daily Mirror: “Pete and Carl want somewhere of their own where they can hang out and make music in a relaxed environment. They want a social atmosphere so they can work on music when they're at their most creative."
Pete Doherty, who is 37 years old, was in rehab in Thailand in the run-up to the band’s reformation, and Glastonbury headline slot. Whilst in Thailand, the band recorded close to Pete Doherty’s rehabilitation facilities to create their third and most recent album, Anthems For Doomed Youth.
Interestingly, Johnny Borrell has recently claimed that the duo were like Grant and Phill Mitchell, so it’s good that they now have their own pub. Borrell also claimed that his former band members were a ‘self-referential pantomime’.
The follow up Doherty's 2009 solo debut Grace/Wastelands is set to drop later this year, after the lead single 'The Whole World Is Our Playground' will be released as limited edition vinyl as part of Record Store Day on 16 April.
