A man claiming to have taught Taylor Swift how to play guitar is being threatened with legal action by Swift’s team.
Ronnie Cremer is a man who claims to have given the superstar guitar lessons twice a week and subsequently helped her to record a demo and introduced her to the process of digital recording. The reason he parted ways with the future hitmaker he claims, to the New York Daily News, is because her mother acted like ‘a bull in a china shop’.
Cremer has purchased the domain name ITaughtTaylorSwift.com after the article was published in January. However, since then he has been threatened with legal action from Swift’s team under the grounds that the website violates the Taylor Swift trademark and suggests sponsorship or endorsement.
Cremer spoke of the suit and said: “I almost feel like they were trying to bully me a little bit. I’m not giving back the domain name. I mean, Go Daddy sold it to me.”
Swift’s legal team has been under watch ever since they were noted for trademarking a range of her lyrics including ‘nice to meet you. Where you been?’ and ‘This sick beat’ - as well as suing fans for making homemade merchandise.
