The BRIT Awards was a palpable hit with viewers at home with one million more viewers than last year, despite the ceremony streaming online.
TV figures revealed today announce that the ceremony, held at the O2 Arena in London, received 5.76 million viewers on ITV, up by a million on last year. This not only means that the ceremony beat the Bafta Awards (which had 4.9m viewers) but also managed to compete with the live streaming on Youtube.
Many are crediting Ant and Dec's established audience with the result but one suspects the presence of a world exclusive from Kanye West, a live performance from Madonna and the true global reach of the likes of Ed Sheeran. Read Gigwise's highlights and lowlights of the night here.
