Sam Smith has been the first artist to take the no.1 spot on the UK album chart since streams were included alongside sales.
It was announced in February that streams on services like Deezer, Spotify, Google Play, Napster, O2 Tracks, Rdio, Xbox Music and Rara would contribute to official chart figures as well as sales, with this week being the first time it was put into effect.
Smith's ridiculously high-selling debut In The Lonely Hour no doubt saw another rise in sales and streams after his performance at The BRITs last week, with the singer also taking home two awards on the night.
This week alone saw the record claim 38,000 album sales and 2,900 album streams, narrowly beating Ed Sheeran who amassed 35,000 album sales and 3,400 album streams for his second album X.
Meanwhile in the UK singles chart, Ellie Goulding has maintained the top spot with 'Love Me Like You Do', which saw popularity after appearing on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
