Boris Johnson has suddenly realised by opening up the city to big business, he has annihilated a large part of London's culture - mainly music venues. Now he's created a taskforce to save it.
In the last few years we've said farewell to The Astoria, The Mean Fiddler, Madame Jojo's, Buffalo Bar, Plastic People, The Palais, 12 Bar and Vibe Bar. Also under threat but thankfully saved were Ministry Of Sound and Fabric, with stringent conditions been applied to both. The reason for the closures were a mixture of Crossrail, big business and council restrictions often masquerading in support of the former.
Around the closure of Madame Jo Jo's, Boris seemed to make an about turn on the continuing ruination of London. He even went so far as to sing a protest song (god forbid) and now he has created The London Music Venues Taskforce, which sounds like Captain Planet but for live music.

One can't help but it feel that it's too little too late however, most of London's historic venues have already been closed or demoilished with little or no thought from Boris' administration. Not too mention as long as councils look for excuses to close venues, such as playing to people moving above said venues and complaining or airport style security then nothing will change.
We would love to be proved wrong however, although it's not going to bring back all that the city has already lost.
