Sam Smith has recorded a new version of 'Lay Me Down' in aid of Comic Relief - this time featuring John Legend.
The collaborative new version of Smith's single has been released today both online and in Sainsbury's, and all proceeds will go to Comic Relief. Legend offers his piano playing to the mix, and also performs the song's second verse and harmonies.
Considering Smith and Legend are both powerhouse performers with a penchant for vocal tricks, this recording could have been horribly competitive - but they manage instead to complement each other's voices.

As Digital Spy reports, the pair will also perform the track live during this Friday's main telethon at the London Palladium.
Speaking of the release, Smith said, "I recently visited a Comic Relief-funded project in my hometown which supports the young LGBT community in London. I'm extremely proud that my single will help raise money for projects like this and many others in the UK and across Africa."
John Legend and Sam Smith's collaboration is available to download now, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.
