Following his announcement on Monday (March 23) that he will be running for US President in 2016, Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke with CBS News regarding his musical preferences, revealing that ever since 9/11, he has listened to country music.
When asked by CBS This Morning’s co-host Gayle King what kind of music he listens to, Cruz said: "You know, music is interesting. I grew up listening to classic rock, and I'll tell you sort of an odd story – my music taste changed on 9/11.”
"I actually intellectually find this very curious, but on 9/11, I didn't like how rock music responded,” he continued, “and country music, collectively, the way they responded, it resonated with me."
While prior to 9/11, he did not listen to the genre, Cruz shared that he had an emotional reaction to country music following the attacks, and that he has listened to it since 2001.
