Laura Marling has released a video for upcoming single 'Gurdjieff's Daughter', featuring cameos from a number of musicians and actors who are friends with the folk singer.
The video was shot in Marling's East Los Angeles home and follows her in a single take as she proceeds through the house, greeting friends and singing. Vampire Weekend guitarist and vocalist Rostam Batmanglij makes a brief appearance, as do English folk debutee Marika Hackman, actress Rhian Rees and musician Jonathan Wilson, offering what a press release calls "a glimpse into the California life", naming them as friends Marling met during the recording of her album.
New album Short Movie is out now, whilst the single is out on 18 May via Virgin EMI. The title refers to George Gurdjieff, a 20th-century spiritualist who claimed to be able to teach humans to reach a higher state of mental being through a practice he called 'The Fourth Way".
