Kurt Vile will apparently release a new record later this year.
According to Rolling Stone, work began on the singer-songwriter's new album in Philadelphia last year, while recording took place in Brooklyn, Georgia, Athens and Southern California. The album will feature Warpaint drummer, Stella Mozgwa and is expected to be released "at some point in autumn".
The Philadelphia-based musician said that the LP will include some "ethereal, Appalachian-influenced folk songs" and described the new material as more "unguarded and vulnerable" and having a "night vibe".
Vile said: "The music drones on and on, but in a freer way. There's a sort of melancholy in the way the music just sprawls. It wanders. Everybody goes up and down throughout their lives. 'Smoke Ring' was a downer, then 'Wakin...' was an upturn. My music has to be funny and sad and happy and loving, it's gotta have it all. When somebody's just too dark all the time, it's just drama. Or if somebody's too funny? Well, I like being too funny sometimes."
The magazine previously claimed that the album will be called All Over The Place, but Pitchfork reported that Vile's representatives have denied this.
The legendary rocker recently appeared on stage at the Los Angeles’ Echoplex to perform with Warpaint. The band performed their hit ‘Baby’ from their debut along with Vile.
