Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has revealed that he has written “a lot” of new songs over the last few years, and that retirement hasn’t even crossed his mind.
When asked if the Rolling Stones will record a new album, Jagger told Rolling Stone: “I don't know. It would be very nice and I've got a lot of new songs and songs I've written over the last couple of years. I've done really good demos for all of them, which I would love to record. So, let's hope so.”
“I'd love to record a Stones album,” he continued. When asked if he has considered making another solo album, he said: “If [a new Rolling Stones album] doesn't happen, then yes. That's a truthful answer. I've got songs that would be great for the Stones, and I've got songs that wouldn't be perfect for the Stones."
He also shared that retirement has not crossed his mind, stating that he is “thinking about what the next tour is. I'm not thinking about retirement. I'm planning the next set of tours.”
The Rolling Stones recently announced that they will be embarking on a 15-city Zip Code tour across North America, kicking of on May 24.

The tour is set to coincide with the re-release of the band’s 1971 album Sticky Fingers, and there have been rumours that the band will play the album in its entirety. Jagger said that they will at least play “the ones we don’t normally play”.
“We're floating the idea of doing the whole album,” he said. “I played it - and it's a really great album - but it's got a lot of slow songs. I'm just worried that's a bit problematic for a stadium. So, I don't know. I'm sure we'll think about it. I'm just working on that now, but I'm sure we'll feature some of the more unusual ones. I think that'll be good.”
