After James Blake announced Frank Ocean as an addition to the 1-800 Dinosaur UK road trip, Frank Ocean made no appearance on stage at nightclub Lakota last night.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, James Blake told followers 'To be frank we are announcing BOYSDONTCRY to the line up for the 1-800 Road Trip - kicking off in Bristol this evening at Lakota.'

After Ocean made announcements of a new album and a magazine by the name of BOYSDONTCRY on Tumblr, it was rumoured that Ocean himself would be joining Blake for three dates on the UK road trip.

Photos from the fans, however, told a different tale: Blake did indeed DJ, but Frank Ocean was nowhere to be seen.

It was nine hours after the original announcement, and five after tickets for the show had sold out, that James Blake made the crucial clarification on Facebook:

"As previously said earlier today, Frank and I are not performing live or on tour - we're on a 1-800 DINOSAUR road trip, putting on club nights and documenting the weekend for the BoysDontCry Magazine. Blog that, as that's the correct information."

By 2am last night, Blake had finished his electic set and MC Trim took to the stage, fuelling mosh pits entirely with the promise 'We've got Frank', as Crack reports. After one more hour the night had come to a close and the room erupted with boos: many fans had stayed until the end under the illusion that Frank Ocean would at last appear. One Facebook-user sumed up the feelings:  'I had to be up for work. I feel sleepy and I keep drifting in to daydreams in which I'm throwing darts at James Blake's face.'

Vice have confirmed that Frank Ocean was technically in the venue he wasn't taking part in the show. "The best I can say is that Frank Ocean was there, somewhere, in the vicinity, but he never touched a CDJ never mind a microphone. He just hung around at the back for three hours, and as disappointment become gradually inevitable things started to get a little sad and ugly."

James Blake and the 1-800 Dinosaur collective's upcoming live shows are as follows.

 APRIL
10 - Manchester, Roadhouse
12 - London, TBA
