Motley Crue have added 21 dates to their North American farewell tour.

The new show dates run from October 5 in Hidalgo, Texas to December 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tour will then close with a previously scheduled three-night residency at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, bassist Nikki Sixx explained: "On the first leg of this tour, we went back and forth between outdoor places and arenas. As much as we love playing outside, it's frustrating when you can only use a certain percentage of your production. We decided we wanted to wrap up the tour this way, in a controlled environment where all the elements of the show are amplified."

The band have added a new element to their indoor shows, called “The Crue’s Nest”, which is a levitating platform at the opposite end of the venue from where the stage is located, that will raise the band and some fans at the end of the show.

"We always want to try to find a way to involve our fans," Sixx explained. "So why not take them for a ride with us? We have a 'B' stage that goes up about 40 feet in the air, so we were like, 'Why don't we just strap a bunch of fans to it?' Of course, our production manager was like, 'Well, you can't really just tie fans to a stage with a rope!' We had to build special seats with harnesses and seatbelts, but it's really cool — it'll be like an amusement park ride!"

Speaking about playing a farewell tour, drummer Tommy Lee shared: "It's like a big bag of mixed emotions that's just nonstop. At the very end of the show, when I'm at the piano and playing 'Home Sweet Home,' that's the point where I start to realize, 'Holy fuck, this is it, dude — this is the last time I'm going to play for these guys!' You're dealing with the moment, you're looking at what you've done and what you've accomplished, and there are 20,000 people there giving you the most amazing send-off that you could ever fucking want… and you're sitting there going, 'What is happening? I can't even deal with this right now!'”
