Yesterday evening (10 September), the Mercury Prize nominations were announced. With cracking acts such as East India Youth, Jungle, Royal Blood and FKA Twigs on the list, it's a fairly sterling effort from the judging panel. There is, however, always room for improvement.
Wild Beasts, La Roux, Chvrches, Owl John and many other British artists released brilliant, innovative albums this year - which haven't been deemed quite good enough for the Mercurys.
