A new trailer for Billie Joe Armstrong's debut acting role in film Like Sunday Like Rain has been released. Watch it below.

The film concerns Leighton Meester's unlikely friendship with a precocious 12 year old cello prodigy  (who describes himself as 'affable' and says phrases like "welcome to the weirdness"). Armstrong plays the deadbeat unfaithful musician boyfirend of Meester - although music for the film itself is provided by Gigwise favourite Ed Harcourt.

Premiered in the UK at the Raindance Festival in September, no UK release date has yet been confirmed.

It was recently announced that Green Day will be inducted into the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on 18 April, alongside Bill Withers and Stevie Ray Vaughan. "I had to go for a walk when I heard the news," Armstrong said of the announcement. "We're in incredible company and I'm still trying to make sense of this. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has always held something special for me because my heroes were in there. This is a great time for us to sort of reflect and look back with gratitude."

Although the band have admitted they are going through "some tough times right now", Armstrong has suggested that we will hear new Green Day music in 2015. "I'm in a hardware store in queens. and this is on my mind. #greenday15 #thefutureisnow #greendayforever"

This would be the followup to the band's trio of albums ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! released in 2012. Their last UK gig was the colossal 99 Revolutions Tour in 2013 that included a record breaking 60,000 tickets sold at the Emirates stadium.
