Gorgon City burst onto the scene back in 2013 when their song 'Real' featuring Yasmin took over the airwaves and fed club goers something new to excite their ears. It was then once their MNEK-assisted single 'Ready For Your Love' went top five on the UK Singles Chart that their name started to ring louder than that intrusive iPhone alarm you set every morning only to hit snooze every 10 minutes.
Now one of the UK's most established dance acts, the duo consisting of Kye "Foamo" Gibbon and Matt "RackNRuin" Robson-Scott have been touring non-stop throughout the summer and have just finished up their UK tour. Gigwise sat down with the boys backstage at their UK tour penultimate date at Brixton's O2 Academy.
Discussing various topics including how they go about picking the artists they work with - some of these have included Wyclef Jean, Laura Welsh, Jennifer Hudson, and Tink - and who their favourites have been, when they recognised that they had 'made it', and also whether or not they would consider doing an acoustic EP or album.
One question that has been on the lips of fans for quite some time now has been when Kingdom, their follow-up album to 2014's Sirens, is going to arrive, so Gigwise asked. The answer? A complicated one. With everything from Spotify playlists and three weekly drops to whether it will be a single or double disc and how the vinyl will feature songs to the digital version all mentioned as part of the answer, the boys assure fans that it is definitely coming but you might need to be a mathematician to work out exactly when.
Also explaining the friendly rivalry between themselves and Disclosure, as well as Rudimental, Gibbon and Robson-Scott say there's enough room for all of them to succeed.
Coming off of the back of their successful UK tour that saw them sell out Brixton's O2 Academy, Gorgon City's new single Smile, featuring Eldebrook, is out now.
