Everything Everything have launched this years Here To Be Heard, a competition to find new musical talent.
Budding musicians and bands are given the chance to submit their own material via to Here To Be Heard and could win a slot at this year's Reading Festival, along with a bundle of tickets to the August event and access to backstage after-parties.
The Mancunian four-piece, who are about to release their third album Get To Heaven in June, will be judging submissions and mentoring the five finalists. When asked what they were looking for, lead singer Jonathan Higgs explained, "We haven't got any preconceived ideas about what we're looking for, just something different and honest - we hate any falsity, especially affected accents."
With the winners being awarded with a slot at this year's Reading Festival, Gigwise found out what their memories of the legendary festival are, bassist Jeremy Pritchard said: "We've had some of our best shows at Reading. I remember being really nervous when we played for the first time on the BBC Introducing Stage back in 2009, we drank lemon, honey and sugar beforehand because we thought it would make our voices sound better. All I remember about the show is looking out to see Zane Lowe head and shoulders above the rest which was quite intimidating."
Everything Everything recently announced a series of launch shows in London and Manchester with a string of gigs in the winter - including a headline show at London's Brixton Academy. For tickets visit here.
