In recent months, rumours of a new Janet Jackson album have circulated the music world, following a leaked record store release schedule listing “JACKSON, JANET/TITLE TBD” as coming out in July of this year.
After the leak, most major music stores confirmed that Jackson did indeed have an untitled album available for pre-order, and that it was due 7 July.
A journalist at Stereogum reportedly called the Ridgewood FYE music store after the schedule was leaked, who confirmed customers could you can pre-order a new album from Janet Jackson in-store, although there’s "no album title, artwork or record label info".
Jackson's last major album release was in 2008 with Discipline, and her last world tour was in 2011 – titled Number Ones, Up Close and Personal – when she travelled to 35 different cities across the globe, each city selected by fans; one for each of her number one hits in international record charts.
