Jess Glynne has been forced to pull out of a number of upcoming UK dates as well as several festival performances due to needing vocal surgery.

The singer was due to go on tour in support of John Legend in a run of arena UK dates this summer, as well as appearing at Glastonbury and other festivals. Last weekend saw her withdraw from Isle Of Wight festival and now many of her summer bookings have also been cancelled.

Glynne is devastated the decision she's been forced to make: "I’m heartbroken. I'm so sad to miss these shows and festivals with and for people I love but the doctors have told me I need the operation or I risk damaging my vocal cords. I'm scared but I'm in with the best specialist who tells me I'll be back singing better than before." 

Glynne has been referred to Dr Steven Zeitels of Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital, the same expert who recently treated Sam Smith.

"I realised I had a problem with my voice and asked Sam for advice. He put me in touch with Dr Zeitels who I met with last week. I won’t be able to talk for three weeks but I will be back singing in August and in plenty of time for both my big UK tour and my first ever American tour, both of which I’m massively excited about. I’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks to my fans who've been very supportive and gave me my first solo number 1 with Hold My Hand.”

The details of her American tour are due to be announced very soon, and Glynne's solo UK tour begins in October, which she assures she will be fit and healthy for. The dates will be in support of her debut album I Cry When I Laugh, which is to be released on 14 August.
