Muse are set to spend a second week at No.1 with new album Drones, the midweek Official Charts update indicates.

After scoring a No.1 with Drones last week, Muse are likely to continue their successful streak with sales figures indicating they're on track to keep the top spot for a second week.

The album continues to beat Florence + The Machine's How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful down, even as Florence has been announced as the stand in headliner for Glastonbury after the Foo Fighters pulled out

Muse's success comes after they performed at Download festival last weekend, putting on an epic, heavy show, blowing away any critics who rejected the idea of the band headlining. Album Drones featured prominently in their set list, with current singles 'Mercy' and 'Dead Inside' sending the crowd insane.

"Using the excuse to drop some harder, heavier and rarer cuts from their back catalogue to win over the Download faithful, Muse not only showcased the louder corners of their massive new album Drones, but delighted their hardcore masses with the likes of Origin Of Symmetry's 'Micro Cuts' and 'Citizen Erased', along with the rarely played one-off single 'Dead Star' and Showbiz B-side 'Agitated'," we wrote in our review

"Matt Bellamy may have fallen on his arse halfway through opening track 'Psycho', but ultimately Muse further proved that not only are they the finest live act on this Earth, but the shining jewel in the crown of British rock. Huge hordes gathered as far as the eye could see, with thousands upon thousands witnessing what can only be described as pure rock pleasure. The challenge was accepted, the target was destroyed. There is nothing they can not do."
