Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been sentenced for charges of drugs possession and making threats to kill.

The 61-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges of making murder threats and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis back in April. It emerged that for the latter allegation, Rudd is said to have offered an employee NZ$200,000 (£100,000) to have another 'taken out' following the poor sales of his solo album, Head Job.

At the Tauranga District Court in the North Island of New Zealand Read, Rudd was sentenced to eights months' home detention with 24-hour monitoring. Judge Ingram told him that he would certainly return to custody should he breach the order.

"I stone cold guarantee that’s where you’ll end up. I’m not your headmaster, I’m not your father, I’m a judge," he said.

Rudd recently told Australia's A Current Affair: "I was pretty stressed at the time (of the incident). I got back [to Australia] and the people who I had working for me for this [album] launch – it was a total fucking disaster. So I was really pissed off."

He added that he'd 'seen the errors of his ways'.

Drummer Chris Slade has since replaced Rudd in AC/DC - but he vows to one day return to the group
