Nick Grimshaw will be wiping the sweat from his brow after adding almost 350,000 listeners in the three months to the end of June, dragging BBC Radio 1 back up from their worst breakfast show ratings in a staggering 12 years.
In his second quarter, the often polarising presenter managed to rake in 5.84 million listeners a week - 343,000 more than the 5.5 million in the first three months of the year. Those were the lowest audience figures since he replaced Chris Moyles three years ago.
Grimshaw will be breathing a sigh of relief after recovering from the lowest breakfast audience BBC Radio 1 has had since Sara Cox in her last three months of the job in 2003.
The BBC stressed the point that 30-year-old Grimshaw is part of a strategy to gain younger listeners, pointing out that it is extending its appeal on digital platforms like YouTube.
"This is great news for Grimmy and 1Xtra...as it continues to innovate in reaching new audiences for the BBC in different ways,” noted Ben Cooper, the controller of Radio 1 and 1Xtra. “I’m delighted that we are also averaging over one million requests a month on the Radio 1 iPlayer channel and over one million views a day on YouTube. Radio 1 will continue to bring new music, new presenters and new innovations to our young audience.”
The radio presenter should probably start reading Gigwise, considering his appreciation for live music. Last year, he spoke about how seeing Kate Bush and Grace Jones blew his mind.
