The crying man that joined Foo Fighters on stage during a rendition of 'My Hero' has revealed why he was in tears - he had recently lost his mother.
At a show at the Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre earlier this week, Dave Grohl stopped the song mid-way after spotting the man, now known as Anthony, weeping in the crowd. In typical Grohl fashion, he invited the fan on stage to finish the song with him.
Footage of the event was being discussed on US Radio station KBCO.fm when a man claiming to be Anthony unexpectedly called the station. Having proved who he was, the DJ then began discussing the event with him.
Anthony said: "My mum died about six months ago and I just got back from Europe putting her in her crypt. He (Grohl) started singing it and I felt all emo."
After admitting he was sober, he added: "I was crying, I'm not afraid to cry. I started getting all teared up. I was trying to hide from him."

This isn't the first time Foo Fighters have invited their fans on stage. The band recently welcomed a member of the crowd to sing on a cover of Rush's 'Tom Sawyer'.
