Speaking to The Guardian, the electro-pop trio discussed not only their new album, but the integrity and reasoning behind including the whole band in interviews, photoshoots and press tours.
Martin Doherty explains: “We could have sold 200,000 more albums if we’d hidden Iain and I from view and put Lauren on the cover of every magazine. But there’s 100 of those acts and that stuff goes away.”
Singer Lauren Mayberry continued: “We wanted to establish [Chvrches] as a band first and foremost, and have that base. Then you can move on from that. We’ve done a couple of women’s mags but we tend to talk about feminism and women in the industry, which I feel more comfortable talking about."
Controversy about the role of Lauren Mayberry in the band has been a hot-topic recently since the putrid internet cretins of 4chan took to labelling Mayberry a 'slut' and 'whore' for starring in the 'Leave A Trace' that features more heavily on her than it does the other two members.

Mayberry has been a notable advocate against internet misogyny since her 2013 Guardian article went viral and continues to fight for the cause stating more recently: "women will not be shamed and silenced and made to disappear."
Check out Gigwise's blog on the subject: The misogyny Lauren Mayberry endures is the rule, not the exception.
Chrvches second album, Every Open Eye, is out September 25.
