Reading and Leeds Festival organisers have released a statement highlighting possible issues surrounding next week's threatened train strike action.
Reading and Leeds will take place simultaneously next weekend at Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park from 28-30 August. Headliner’s for this year’s festival are Metallica, Libertines and Mumford & Sons.
Planned strike actions are highly likely to affect First Great Western train services between Saturday 29 August and Monday 31 August, causing major issues for those travelling to and from the Reading festival site.
Organisers have therefore updates ticket holders with advice on travelling if the train strike goes ahead.
"It is estimated that 50 per cent of normal services operated by FGW will still operate and train services for Friday night/early hours of Saturday morning will largely be unaffected," "Services operated by South West trains (to places like Portsmouth, Southampton and London Waterloo) and Cross Country trains (Oxford, Birmingham and many northern cities) will still operate as normal, however this does mean that queuing times at the station will be longer than normal, particularly on Monday morning."
"Please make sure you give yourself plenty of time to arrive and make your way through to your train. Tickets booked on FGW trains will be valid on these services when disruptions occur."
For those attending the festival who haven’t yet booked train tickets, they added: "National Express will be providing coaches to and from locations across the country, with tickets still available. What's more, you'll be dropped off and picked up right outside the festival site."
Metallica fans will want to make sure their travelling plans are in order, as a production technician has promised a storming performance that will boast insane stage effects and big guests.
This year's Reading and Leeds is headlined by The Libertines, Mumford & Sons and Metallica, and will also see performances from Alt-J, Jamie T, Kendrick Lamar, Wolf Alice, Bring Me The Horizon, Royal Blood, Limp Bizkit and many more.
