After losing a bet with his fellow bandmates, Joakim Brodén, the vocalist from Swedish metal band Sabaton, is walking 320 miles to their next gig
Brodén agreed to a drunken bet with his bandmates, the loser having to walk from the band’s hometown in Falun, Sweden to their next gig at Trondheim Metal Fest in Norway. Blabbermouth reports that the walk is approximately 323 miles and will take an estimated 107 hours on foot.
Brodén started the walk this week. speaking about the bet, Brodén said, "I will not go into details on exactly what happened, but I can say that it was fun and a bit silly. It started out almost as a joke, but it evolved to be quite serious."
Talking about his progress, he added, "Now I will take a few days' rest. I have made contact with some fans via Facebook, who have provided me with food and shelter." Speaking to TRD.by, Broden said, "The first day was the hardest. That's when I walked for 10 hours without proper shoes. It wasn't exactly ideal."
Carrying on with the near impossible feat in running shoes, he explained, "I do not walk such long stretches of time now. I walk between four and eight hours a day."
Coming together as a band in 1999, Sabaton are currently touring in support of their seventh album, 'Heroes'.
