Explosions in the Sky fans will be waking up to a glorious surprise this morning as the Texas post-rockers have, finally, announced a UK tour to possibly support a yet-to-be-confirmed new album. Information regarding dates and tickets below.
The band announced that they 'are coming out of hibernation' with the release of a 54 second trailer featuring glittering and disorientating visuals soundtracked by the band's sentimental whirr which, at this point in the career, is pretty much patented by the quartet.
This will mark the band's first appearance on these shores since 2012 so, as you can imagine, is very exciting for post-rock fans nationwide. Since then, the band have been keeping relatively quiet on the studio front bar contributing to film soundtracks, like Prince Avalanche starring Paul Rudd in 2013 as well as the Mark Walberg blockbuster, Lone Survivor.
The band's Instagram suggests that there is new material in the pipeline with a plethora of photos with the band in the studio working on something. This in conjunction with this tour announcement, it'd be fair to get your hopes up. The band haven't released a studio album since 2011's Take Care, Take Care, Take Care.
