Jimmy Iovine, the music producer and businessman who's worked with the likes of Eminem and founded Beats Music with Dr. Dre, has reached new heights of stupidity and sexism. In an interview, he suggested that women are too busy talking about boys to discover new music. It's worth a watch it you're in the mood to roll your eyes into the back of your skull.

The Apple Music boss appeared on CBS This Morning yesterday (19 November) alongside Mary J. Blige to discuss the company's new, female-focussed advert. It stars Blige, Kerry Washington and Taraji P. Henson, just hanging out and laughing and being glamorous in an expensive showhome dancing around the kitchen to music - just things us gals like to do.

Explaining the thought process behind the advert, Iovine said, "So I always knew that women find it very difficult at times – some women – to find music. And this helps makes it easier with playlists, curated by real people."

He continued, and here's the real doozy, "I just thought of a problem: girls are sitting around talking about boys. Or complaining about boys! They need music for that, right? It’s hard to find the right music."

Watch Jimmy Iovine make the comments at around 3.05 in the video below

Iovine has since issued a statement admitting, "I could have chosen my words better, and I apologise." You can say that again.
