Giving us a taster of which artists will be touring in summer 2016, Alabama’s Hangout Festival has just marked its place in the calendar by officially announcing its line- up - featuring the likes of The Weeknd, Florence + The Machine and Calvin Harris.
With the summer now long behind us, we can only look forward to next summer, which admittedly feels an age away. Fortunately, the Hangout Festival, which will fall in the spring, kicks off next year’s festival season early.
Previous Hangout Festival lineups have been tailored towards the rock and indie crowd. Tom Petty, The Foo Fighters, The Killers and The Black Keys have all blessed the festival’s stages with their presence. For 2016, the three-day festival has shaken up its style by expanding its musical embrace to the likes of RnB, rap and EDM.
Indeed, The Hangout Festival hosts some of the biggest artists of each genre. The acts include Alabama Shakes (who will be playing on their home turf - after dropping their new album, Sound & Colour), Ellie Goulding, Cage the Elephant, Haim, Lenny Kravitz, Grimes, Panic! at the Disco, Walk the Moon, Flume, Run the Jewels, Jason Isbell, Fetty Wap, Courtney Barnett, Leon Bridges, Big Grams (Big Boi and Phantogram), Foals, Kurt Vile and the Violators, The Neighbourhood, Alessia Cara, the Wailers, Vince Staples, Silversun Pickups, X Ambassadors, Mayer Hawthorne, Portugal. The Man, Bass Drum of Death, Moon Taxi and Bully.
The full line-up can be found on the Hangout Festival website.
The Weeknd, whose 2015 debut album, Beauty Behind The Madness reached the No.1 spot also headlined Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival, as well as securing his place at Lollapolooza and Austin City Festival.
As well as 2016 being the festival’s first year of dynamic music genres, it will also be the first year that the festival will host a female headliner. However, the Hangout Festival will certainly not be Florence & The Machine’s first festival, having already played Glastonbury, Bonaroo and Coachella.
The Gulf Shore’s beach festival is in its seventh year and will take place between 20 May - 22 May 2016.
Tickets for the festival will go on sale tomorrow, November 19th at 10am CST. Admission for the full three days will cost $249. There are also VIP and Super VIP packages available for $1,099 and $1,599 here.
Meanwhile, The Weekend recently pleaded no contest to allegations of assaulting a police officer.
