Madonna showed her age and lashed out at fans yesterday (13 December) after turning up an hour late at the Manchester Arena. The 'Vogue' artist caused hundreds of outraged fans to tweet their disappointment at her tardiness, and was met with a loud chorus of boos for her lack of punctuality.
The MEN, which has a capacity of 22,000 people, opened its doors at 6.30pm and Madonna was scheduled to start her Rebel Heart Tour performance at 9pm, and arrived onstage after 10pm.
As soon as the US singer arrived, she was quick to let go an emotional outburst at the audience: "The video crashed. We had no video and we had to wait until we could reboot."
"I don't like to be late by the way. And all you bitches complaining about it can shut the fuck up. No selfish diva bitch reason. If you diva bitches want to keep complaining about it don't come to my show.”
In a statement, the Manchester Arena said that despite an announcement made about the late start which was apparently "beyond the artist's control", certain members of the audience actually walked out on the Queen of Pop. Some of the fans took to Twitter to vent their rage at the late start.
Been a #madonna fan for 30 years. No more. Her attitude in Manchester STINKS tonight. #badattitude

Over 50mins late at Manchester Arena and no announcements. Not acceptable. People have jobs to go to @Madonna

Meanwhile, other fans took to defend the diva, stating at least people "got a show":

However, the majority of fans who attended the concert remain unhappy with the late arrival.
“Nearly £100 per ticket to watch Madonna in these seats tonight," said Tony Robinson. "My mate’s not happy. That’s disgusting.”
