When the tour was announced and rumours began to circulate that they were working on a new album, it was clear The Third Coming was finally upon us - and now we have a new single from The Stone Roses. Here's how the world reacted to 'All For One'.
The band dropped the news that a new single would be arriving yesterday, before 'All For One' received its premiere.
Led by a crisp and meandering guitar line by John Squire, the track is a propulsive and steady return for the band, seeing them stepping into the future with their best foot striving ever forwards - a festival-ready anthem and typically Roses call for free love. It would make a pretty good Euro anthem for England, following Manic Street Preachers releasing theirs for Wales yesterday. Check it out below.
The world then went online to share their reactions - starting, of course, with Manchester United's Juan Mata who was filmed listening to it for the first time by the Manchester Evening News. "Good," he said, "it's very good" - adding that it was "very nice". Indeed.
And we know you were wondering what the Shadow Home Secretary made of it all:
How good is that new @thestoneroses single? Absolutely brilliant. #AllForOne

Loving all these 'yer dad' tweets about @thestoneroses. Anyone under 25 has got 'yer dad' to thank for getting you into them! #AllForOne

And here are some strong reactions from the fans who liked it...
But back to the Stone Roses. I thought the guitar sounded very Beatles-y. Well... more than usual. Revolution-like

Anyone want a ticket for the Friday? 5 quid.
Did The Stone Roses have some sort of bet to see if they could make a more disappointing album than their second or something?
— Alistair Ryder (@YesitsAlistair) May 13, 2016
The stone roses song is better second time round. Still sounds like a Wigan indie band circa 2003.
— James (@james_1919) May 13, 2016
So the new Stone Roses single is a bit meh but still better than Radiohead's latest endurance test in tuneless guff.https://t.co/tGDUBMn5cK

I'm still listening to the new Stone Roses single and I've already forgotten about it.
— Alicia Eveson (@LiciEveson) May 13, 2016
How awful are the stone roses though
— Khal Monro (@Mon_tothe_Ro) May 13, 2016
The new Stone Roses sounds like a copycat band of kids who haven't really worked out how to write music yet.
