London band Little Cub have unleashed a sublime debut EP that includes the single version 'Loveless' and three accompanying remixes of it. Listen to it on Gigwise below.
The opener is the single, and it's a fantastic alt-pop cut with self-effacing lyrical delivery and gorgeous electronic soundscape. The gently distorted bassline is fat-sounding, simple, driving, and central to everything. The way the cut builds is nicely done: a central synth hook is soon woven into gushing textures that form a tasteful wall of sound sumptuous enough to be blaring out of a top-notch soundsystem.
The 'Night Foraging' version takes the driving bass away and leads on some more ambient drone sounds that pan from left to right in your speakers creating a dizzying effect. Meanwhile, the vocals echo around making sonic delight for the escapists among us.
Third cut, 'Wake Up Jack' plays closely to the single version whilst upping the energy slightly. Finally, 'Sounds From The South East' is the most clubby as it relegates the vocals to the background and reshuffles everything to create something entirely distinct from the original.
Little Cub will play the following shows:
Monday 14 November – Headrow House, Leeds
Tuesday 15 November - Electrowerkz, London
