A letter written by the late Beatle John Lennon has been put up for auction.

The piece of paper was written during the aftermath of the bands break-up and sent to his bandmate and co-writer Paul McCartney.

The two-page piece of work was typed and hand signed by Lennon, it was even printed on letterhead from his company at the time ‘Bag Productions Inc.’

It is an angry letter and one that is said to have been put to paper during 1971, a period where John and Paul’s (late) wife Linda were exchanging letters.

This letter is said to have been compiled before Lennon moved to New York wife his wife Yoko Ono and he embarked on a whole new way of life. Joining Ono in tackling the world for peace and making music alongside the artist.

It has been estimated that this letter will fetch over £20,000 when it goes to auction.

Lennon begins the expletive-ridden letter with: "I was reading your letter and wondering what middle-aged cranky Beatle fan wrote it. I resisted looking at the last page to find out. I kept thinking who is it Queenie? Stuart's mother? Clive Epstein's wife? Alan Williams? What the hell, it's Linda!"

Lennon continues: "I hope you realise what sh*t you and the rest of my 'kind and unselfish' friends laid on Yoko and me, since we've been together." He also insists that, while he doesn't "resent" his former bandmate, he is "sorry for him." He also suggests the McCartneys' marriage wouldn't last another two years.

John Lennon was a just about to re-embrace his musical roots and release a new album ‘Double Fantasy’ when he was shot dead by deranged fan Mark Chapman in New York on December 8th 1980.

The Beatle founder would have been 40 years old and was by all accounts ready to take the music world by storm after his self-imposed exile to raise his son Sean (with Yoko). He had lost out on bringing up his son with former wife Cynthia (Julian) and was determined to not miss out on his relationship with Sean.
