Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have made their live comeback - returning to the stage to showcase 2016's Skeleton Tree record. Held in Hobart, Tasmania, it's the first gig since Nick Cave lost his son, Arthur, check out footage below.

The band jumped between playing old and new songs all night, giving the live debut for Skeleton Tree cuts, including 'Girl In Amber', 'I Need You', and the title track.

Skeleton Tree, which came at number three in our albums of the year, followed the tragic death of Cave's son, who passed away in July 2015. In a recent interview to The Australian, Cave said recording material soon after his family's ordeal was "not a good idea" and that he hopes to "never have to do anything like that again", stating he was "a mess, big time".

Cave also spoke of how the record's accompanying film piece One More Time With Feeling helped express his grief: " It was a very powerful feeling, and ultimately shifted something in me, and Susie too, and stopped us feeling so completely hopeless all the time. It was like we had done something good for Arthur, all of us, and had placed the memory of him up there in the stars.”"

One More Time With Feeling was described as exploring the "tragic backdrop of the writing and recording of the album” which was a “stark, fragile and raw, and a true testament to an artist trying to find his way through the darkness."
