Arcade Fire have announced a major Manchester show at the Castlefield Bowl on July 6 as part of this year’s Sounds Of The City festival, as well as huge gigs at Belfast’s Ormeau Park (June 13) and Dublin’s Malahide Castle (June 14).
The shows will follow the release of their fifth studio album, which they have claimed will hit the streets in the spring, although singer Win Butler told fans on Reddit last year that there was “no definite schedule, it’ll be done when it’s done”.
Tickets for the gigs go on sale at 9am on Friday 17 February. Keep an eye here for tickets.
The band, who have also announced appearances at a raft of summer festivals including the Isle Of Wight, will join a host of names who are playing headline shows at the 8,000 capacity Castlefield Bowl for Sounds Of The City 2017 including Richard Ashcroft, James, Blossoms and The Levellers.
Arcade Fire recently released a new track called ‘I Give You Power’, featuring vocals from Mavis Staples, to coincide with the inauguration of Donald Trump, with all proceeds going to the American Civil Liberties Union. “It’s the eve of the inauguration,” Butler told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, “and I think it’s easy to get sucked into sitting on the couch and checking your news feed and watching things on CNN, and we’re just musicians and the only thing we really have to offer is our music.”
