George Maple has released her biggest single to date ‘Kryptonite’, ahead of her debut record on Virgin EMI. The single combines influences from Janet Jackson to George Michael, and is sure to be a summer smash-hit.
George Maple has spent the last few years releasing tracks that have been well picked up blogs. The Australian singer-songwriter, who released her debut EP Vacant Space in Australia in 2014, gained attention in the UK when the single ‘Fixed’ first appeared online.
Since that point, Maple has gone on to work on collaborations with Rome Fortune and Goldlink. Maple has also made a career working as a ghost-writer for the likes of Flume, and Snakehips.
The biggest moment of her career so far came with the collaboration with DJ Snake on ‘Talk’, an adaptation of an earlier one of Maple’s tunes. The single, which has upwards of six million hits online, launched her to a global audience, and ever since we’ve eagerly awaited more work in her own name.
After signing with Virgin EMI, ‘Kryptonite’ is Maple’s first single ahead of her debut album.
Talking about the new single, Maple said: “I wrote this song for the lovers, the fighters, the broken hearted, the wild ones, the shy girl, for anyone who has ever felt like running naked into the wilderness with no purpose except to be free. I wanted this song to be a celebration of acceptance, love, freedom and spirit. It is about letting go, finding pleasure in imperfections, celebrating community rather than battling ego, embracing sexuality in all forms, expelling stereotypes and tearing off the shackles that hold us back.”
