So it seems that Foo Fighters have yet to get into the swing of playing live again after the band had the plug pulled on them during their Sunday night (May 28) headline set at the Bottleneck festival in the Napa Valley, CA.
Dave Grohl and his cohorts had been allotted a two-hour time slot but could only make it about halfway through ‘Everlong’ before organisers switched the PA’s power off after they broke a strict 10pm curfew, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. To their credit, the band carried on until the end of the song. You can watch the footage below.
That said, Foo Fighters have themselves to blame. As evidenced by the footage, there’s every chance they’d have made it to the end of the song if Dave Grohl hadn’t spent so much time gassing around instead of concentrating on the business of playing.
They did manage to pack in a large number of their hits in a set that included ‘Learn To Fly’, ‘My Hero’ and ‘Best Of You’ as well as cover versions of Queen’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ and Tommy Tutone’s ‘867-5309/Jenny’. But then again, who wants a bunch of covers from a massive band when they’re just starting out on a major campaign, right? Or reported rambling monologues as well as Dave Grohl singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to his wife, Jordyn Blum.
This isn’t the first time a headliner has had the plugged pulled on them at the Bottleneck festival. The Cure’s 2014 set was curtailed after they’d run over their allotted time. Mind you, what with it being The Cure and their reputation for lengthy sets, it’s highly likely they’d have carried on playing until the following morning.
The strict curfew is in place because residential neighbourhoods surround the festival site, with many houses facing the main stage.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Foo Fighters headline the Glastonbury Festival on the Saturday night (June 24).
