Black Sabbath have shared the trailer for their film, The End Of The End. The live action film captures the metal legends in concert at their final show at their homecoming gig at the Genting Arena in Birmingham earlier this year. The movie will be shown in 1500 cinemas around the world for one night only on September 28.

In addition to the live footage, The End Of The End will also include behind-the-scenes material as the band build up to their farewell gig. Fans will also be treated to studio footage of songs that didn’t make the gig’s set list.

Speaking of the film’s release, Black Sabbath said: “To bring it all back home after all these years was pretty special. It was so hard to say goodbye to the fans who have been incredibly loyal to us through the years.

"We never dreamed in the early days that we’d be here 49 years later doing our last show on our home turf.”

Singer Ozzy Osbourne added: “What a journey we’ve all had. It’s fucking amazing.”

The film has been directed by Dick Curruthers who previously helmed the shooting of Led Zeppelin’s one-off reunion at the 02 Arena in 2007, Celebration Day.

The Birmingham gig on February 4 of this year brought down the curtain on a remarkable career that spanned almost 50 years. Formed in Birmingham in 1968 by singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, Black Sabbath pretty much invented heavy metal thanks to a combination of downtuned guitars, extreme volume and occult imagery that was at sharp odds with the prevailing mood and music of the time.

Their first five albums - Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970), Master Of Reality (1971), Vol. 4 (1972) and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973) - set the template for future generations of metalheads.

Tickets for The End Of The End and a list of participating cinemas are available here.
