As regular readers of Gigwise will attest, we’re fond of a bit of Cabbage round these parts. Few are the bands producing this level of grimy rock’n’roll and when you chuck in a whole heap of righteous anger into the mix, then you know you’re on to winner.
With this being the case, we’re somewhat chuffed to share the video for new track ‘Celebration Of A Disease’. It’s the lead track from Cabbage’s new EP, The Extended Play Of Cruelty, which comes out on August 25. The EP has been produced by The Coral’s James Skelly and Richard Turvey and was recorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios. It also marks Cabbage’s first release since signing to their new label, Infectious Music.
As for the track, ‘Celebration Of A Disease’ finds the band turning their ire on the murky world of pornography and its corrupting effects on relationships and its contribution to an apparently increasingly misogynistic culture. The video, meanwhile, resembles a children’s party if the kids had been replaced by production line workers gorging on acid instead of ice cream and jelly.
Cabbage have also announced details of a headlining tour for the autumn. They play:
