Cheryl Cole has said that the reason she decided to go solo was Will.i.am - as he encouraged her potential.
Cheryl had apparently never considered the possibility until she met Will.i.am, who could see that she had potential for a solo career and encouraged her to ditch the girls.
"Being in a girl group for so many years, it was like seven years we were together and I was surrounded by friends, it’s like a comfort blanket," Cheryl told MSN. "It’s not just you alone.
"So in terms of going solo, I hadn’t really considered it until Will planted the seed. He could see in me what I hadn’t seen yet. And I’ve learned a lot from him, he’s a very, very wise character. He’s been in the industry for a long, long time, so I trusted his instinct and opinion.
Cheryl also spoke about her autobiography, Cheryl: My Story, which told the story of how she found out Ashley Cole was cheating on her, and the infamous text she sent to Simon Cowell after being kicked off The X Factor US.
If it wasn't for Will.i.am, we could still have Girls Aloud...
The 'Under The Sun' singer explained, "It was a battle with myself, how I normally am, because I am a very private person. But I just took enough of everybody else’s rubbish. I’m sick of reading lies and I’m sick of reading misquotes.
"Enough was enough, it was time to put out my side of the story and the truth. I knew it was going to be frank and open and it was the best thing for me at that time."
