Rick Mayall, the comedian who starred in British comedies such as The Young Ones, Bottom and Blackadder, as well as the cult film Drop Dead Fred, has died aged 56 - and the world of music has come out to pay tribute to the late, great actor.
The cause of his death isn't yet known, but it's news that's shocked the British public, as well as those further afield.
Reacting to the news, Mayall's comedy partner Ade Edmondson said: "There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him.
"And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish bastard."
News of Mayall's passing provoked an enormous number of tributes from the music community, with artists including Frank Turner, Josh Groban and Lauren Laverne expressing their sadness.
